Usarin's Guide to Japan

Fusing my passions for photography, illustration, information structures and book design, I created Usarin's Guide to Japan, a travel guide that creates a comprehensive structure through the use of storytelling. My mission as a designer is to make beautiful projects that are functional with a cohesive through line to create memorable reading experiences.

Usarin’s Guide to Japan is a “travel guide”, both referring to the book and to the bunny Usarin, as he welcomes the reader to the richness of a foreign culture. Inspired by travel guides and informational guidebooks both American and Japanese in origin, it focuses on 3 cities located in 3 distinct regions, with each chapter featuring annotated maps of activities and beautiful photographs showcasing the unique qualities of the respective city.
